Discover,
Gather, & Taste Wild Food

Join us for
an introductory wild food walk, a course with foraging and outdoor
wild woodland camp cook-ups, or a specially prepared feast back
at our base. Our courses are based at Ashcroft House, our cottage
on top of the Mendips with stunning views across the Severn Estuary
to Wales.
For a flavour
of what we cover, see Adrian's regular article in The Mendip Times!
Wild
Food Taster Course – 1 day
"taster" ~ a brief experience
of something which is intended either to make you understand what
it is like or to make you want more of it
Our Taster
walk is exactly what it says - the chance to discover local wild
food in hedgerows and woodland, and taste seasonal wild foods as
we go along. Bring packed lunch. 10am - 2pm, £35 per person
Wild Food Forage and Camp Cook-up – 1 day
"forage" ~ to go from
place to place searching, especially for food
Our
foraging trek concludes at private woodland on the Mendip Hills,
where we set up a temporary camp and cook lunch over an open fire
with our foraged ingredients. Everyone has the chance to participate
in preparing and cooking our meal. 10am - 5pm, £65 per person
Wild Food Forage and Feast – 2 day
"feast" ~ a special meal
with very good food or a large meal for many people; a very enjoyable
experience for the senses
This
more extensive two day course consists of an in-depth foraging session
each day, covering various habitats from woodland, heathland, pastures
and meadows to hedgerows. For part of our course we will utilise
our own traditional meadow which is bursting with with wild food
at all times of the year. Our group evening meal, served at the
end of our first day, incorporates wild food foraged during the
day. Overnight accommodation can be provided at Ashcroft and nearby
B&B's &/or hotels, depending on your preference. Starts
10am day 1, ends 3.30pm day 2, £145 per person. Overnight
B&B accommodation at Ashcroft from £25 per person subject
to availability.
